Carpets: what it is and who it's for

What it is

We supply and fit carpets for every room in the house: bedrooms, living rooms, lounges, hallways, stairs and landings. You choose the colour, pile and price range; we measure, cut and fit it so it sits flat, meets the doorways neatly and wears the way it should.

Who it's for

Homeowners redecorating a single room, families doing the whole house, landlords who need hard-wearing carpet between tenants, and anyone who wants luxury underfoot without paying showroom prices. Our range starts from £5.99/m² and luxury flooring goes up to £120/m², so there is a sensible option at every level.

When you need it

When your old carpet is flattened in the walkways, stained beyond cleaning, fraying at the doors or simply out of date. It's also worth doing before you sell or let a property, after redecorating, or when you've had building work done and the old carpet has been damaged.

Why a professional fit matters

A carpet is only as good as its fitting. Poorly stretched carpet ripples, wears unevenly and pulls away from the gripper. Bad seams show in the light. Our fitters stretch, seam and finish every room properly, so the carpet you paid for actually looks and feels the way it did in the sample.

  • Carpets from £5.99/m², ideal for landlords
  • Most carpets come with manufacturer warranties of 5 years and above
  • Fast, tidy fitting by a friendly team
  • Honest advice on the right carpet for each room

What happens if you leave it, or get it wrong

Putting off a worn carpet, or fitting a new one badly, costs more than people expect.

Trip hazards

Loose, rucked or frayed carpet catches feet, especially on stairs and at door thresholds. That's a real risk for children and older relatives.

Faster wear

Carpet that hasn't been stretched properly moves every time you walk on it. The backing breaks down and the pile wears through in months rather than years.

Hygiene and smell

Old carpet traps dust, pet hair and spills deep in the pile and underlay. Cleaning only reaches so far.

Lower property appeal

Tired carpet is one of the first things buyers and tenants notice. It makes a room feel older and smaller than it is.

Common mistakes we see

  • Buying carpet online to save money, then finding the measurements were wrong and there isn't enough to finish the room.
  • Reusing flattened old underlay, which makes a new carpet feel hard and wear quickly.
  • Choosing a delicate pile for a busy hallway or stairs.
  • Laying carpet yourself without a knee kicker or power stretcher, so it ripples within weeks.

How we do it

  1. Step 1: Get in touch

Call 07928 571571 or send the quote form with your rooms and rough sizes.

  2. Step 2: Measure up

We measure the rooms in your home so you only pay for the carpet you need, and talk you through ranges that suit how each room is used.

  3. Step 3: Honest quote

You get a clear price for the carpet and fitting. If you want us to take up your old flooring, that's £40 a room.

  4. Step 4: Fitting day

We lift the old carpet if needed, fit gripper and underlay, then stretch, seam and trim the new carpet to the walls and doorways.

  5. Step 5: Finish and tidy

Door bars fitted, offcuts cleared and the room left ready to use. Most carpets come with manufacturer warranties of 5 years and above.

Carpets in detail

Types of carpet we fit

Most homes use one of a handful of carpet constructions. Twist pile carpets have tightly twisted yarns that hide footprints and hoover marks, which makes them a popular all-rounder for living rooms, hallways and stairs. Saxony and deep-pile carpets are thicker and softer, ideal for bedrooms where you want a luxurious feel underfoot. Loop pile and Berber-style carpets have uncut loops that are very hard-wearing and suit busy areas, though they're not always the best choice in homes with cats that like to pull at loops.

Fibre matters too. Polypropylene carpets are stain-resistant and bleach-cleanable, which is why they're popular with landlords and families with young children. Wool and wool-blend carpets feel warmer and recover well from crushing. Nylon is tough and springy. We'll explain the trade-offs so you can pick on facts rather than guesswork.

Underlay and gripper

Underlay is the part nobody sees and everybody feels. A good underlay makes even a mid-range carpet feel softer, adds warmth, reduces noise between floors and helps the carpet pile recover after it's walked on. Fitting new carpet on old, flattened underlay is one of the most common reasons a carpet wears out early.

Gripper rods run around the edge of the room and hold the carpet under tension. We check and replace gripper where it's loose, rusty or damaged, so the stretch holds and the edges stay neat.

Room-by-room advice

Hallways, stairs and landings take the most foot traffic, so we usually recommend a dense twist or loop pile in a shade that won't show every muddy shoe. Bedrooms can take a softer, deeper pile. Living rooms need a balance of comfort and durability. For rental properties we normally point landlords to hard-wearing ranges from £5.99/m² that can be cleaned easily between tenancies.

Homes and commercial spaces

Most of our carpet work is in family homes and rental properties across Rochdale, Heywood, Bury, Ramsbottom, Rawtenstall and the surrounding towns. We also fit carpet in offices and communal areas, where a tougher contract-grade carpet is usually the better choice. Whatever the setting, the fitting standard is the same.
